Bring your magic to the Respite

20181108_151337.jpg

Equal parts woodland, floodplain wetland and pastureland, The Respite is a rare alluvial forest on a tributary of the
Tar River in the Piedmont of North Carolina.

Stewarding 23 acres of Occaneechi Saponi land, we welcome nature-based immersion for artists, healers, cultural and frontline organizers taking time for restful resistance.

Priority is given to Black, indigenous, queer, trans, nonbinary and people of color working or making art for collective liberation.

The Respite is more than a retreat location. The Respite is alive, serving as a compassionate facilitator and nourishing haven for folks. The work I’ve done with white folks around anti-racism and spirituality has been greatly influenced by this place.

Today, we don’t need to create an image of the world in
which we want to live.

Today, we can witness the image you are already making of the world in which we want to live.

We came to see it. To be inside it.
